{"id":1116,"date":"2017-10-07T14:31:03","date_gmt":"2017-10-07T14:31:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bygone.bungoblog.com\/wp\/?p=1116"},"modified":"2017-10-07T14:31:46","modified_gmt":"2017-10-07T14:31:46","slug":"history-langside-primary-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bygone.bungoblog.com\/wp\/history-langside-primary-school\/","title":{"rendered":"History of Langside Primary School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Not quite Strathbungo, but quite a few residents of Strathbungo are current or former pupils of Langside Primary School.<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2006 I set about recording a history of the school for its centenary celebrations, and the resulting book was published and copies distributed to pupils. <\/p>\n<p>It came about after watching an all-time classic episode of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.whodoyouthinkyouaremagazine.com\/episode\/jeremy-paxman\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Who Do You Think You Are?&#8221;<\/a>, featuring Jeremy Paxman. He was reduced to tears when he discovered his great grandfather was a Glasgow school janitor, whose family was left destitute when he died.
